ABOUT US
Fund mission and history
In 2015, the non-federal members of the National Fish Habitat Partnership Board of Directors agreed to establish a 501c3 nonprofit organization to support the efforts of our 20 Congressionally recognized Fish Habitat Partnerships across the country. The National Fish Habitat Fund (the Fund) was formed to support our partnership conservation projects and build bridges to the business community and potential project partners and the public through tax deductible donations.
Since 2015, the Fund has stewarded donations and grants of over $2.62 million to support 34 on-the-ground habitat restoration projects, in addition to scientific assessments, strategic planning and training workshops, and outreach efforts of the 20 Fish Habitat Partnerships.
The Fund’s relationship to the National Fish Habitat Partnership program
The National Fish Habitat Fund (“the Fund”) is the 501c3 nonprofit arm of the National Fish Habitat Partnership (NFHP). The Fund’s mission is to provide non-federal funding for on-the-ground conservation activities that support the protection, restoration, and enhancement of fish and aquatic habitats across the United States. We fundraise only for the 20 Congressionally recognized Fish Habitat Partnerships (FHPs) in good standing with the NFHP program’s Board of Directors. We help the FHPs manage grants and donations and serve as their fiscal agent.
We are focused on increasing contributions to implement more on-the-ground projects each year. We share communications and outreach about the NFHP program with people and organizations who are interested in fish and water conservation and stewardship. We serve as a conduit to the private sector, nonprofit foundations, and individual donors to bring in crucial support for these high priority conservation projects.
We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization recognized by the IRS and donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.
